The true journey of discovery is not about seeking new lands, but about having new eyes.
– Marcel ProustFor the third exhibition which SENSI ARTE Gallery dedicates to the theme of Travel and Transition, the field of investigation developed by artists Reggioli and Serafini will be that of traveling while remaining still. Our experiences of memory, connection with the outer world and reading maps’ routes lead us to search for another place in the place.
The pebbles we collected along the way become precious stones for nourishment and inner fortification, guides to nostalgia and filters for processing our own experiences. They are just like Adriane’s thread to curl up in order not to get lost in the labyrinths of our emotions. They are mnemonic references, symbolic footprints documenting our motion to place. The destination is to take refuge in a space for oneself, to be able to observe life from the right distance and therefore be able to approach it with more awareness and wisdom.
Alessandro Reggioli propose an unpublished and completely renewed work on the concept of “Memorabilia”, intersecting symbolic travel notebooks opened on pages that represent what he defines a collection of fragments that should be jealously preserved.
Laura Serafini lead us to an extra-territorial observations: her maps are the support and the vehicle for describing and narrating a plot, while outlining a wandering destiny between earth and sky, that passes through the body, with faces and looks, to represent a hidden and mysterious identity.
